Annual Homeless Summit

The County of San Bernardino Homeless Partnership hosted the 7th Annual Homeless Summit on November 20, 2013. The Summit was attended by approximately 160 guests, including community and faith-based organizations, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, private industry, state, and local government representatives. The theme for the Summit was “Working Together for Hope and the Homeless.” Assembly member Cheryl R. Brown was the keynote speaker, she encouraged everyone to participate in civic processes and to advocate for housing services. Matthew Doherty from the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness provided information about the progress communities are making on ending homelessness and the steps needed to continue the progress. Landlords were also recognized for their participation in the 1,000 Homes Campaign. Pastor Marco Garcia, from the Way World Outreach, was inspirational, as always. The afternoon was filled with workshops providing information about the new healthcare law, the Reentry Collaboration and the progress they are making, building a non-profit, and how to find a grant that is right for your agency.
