Transitional Assistance Department prepares for Affordable Care Act
TAD is preparing to implement the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Enrollment efforts begin Oct.1. There will be an estimated 95,000 additional eligible San Bernardino County residents to the Covered California Health Insurance Plan options. TAD is preparing to serve this new population of customers and moving forward with plans for training and certifying staff in August and September on both the new policies as well as using the California Healthcare Eligibility, Enrollment and Retention System (CalHEERS).
County Surveyor one of the best
The County Surveyor was one of more than 180 organizations honored during the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Awards ceremony on July 10 at the annual Esri International User Conference in San Diego. Recipients of the Special Achievement in GIS award are submitted by Esri staff from thousands of organizations worldwide.
Special Districts and Regional Parks moving forward on Lake Gregory project
Special Districts and Regional Parks are working with the State Department of Dam Safety to move forward on the Lake Gregory Dam project. A plan is in place to stabilize the dam and implement a “valve release system” that will lower the lake by 50 percent in 7 days in case of an emergency. The work will make the dam seismically safe. The county saved up to $1 million by finding the inlet valve free of debris and muck which means the work can move forward without first having to clear the inlet valve.
