County Supports Schools in their Efforts to Comply with State Mandates

San Bernardino County is committed to support schools throughout the county as they grapple with a variety of challenges in their effort to comply with State-imposed student and staff mask mandates.

Throughout the pandemic, San Bernardino County and our local school districts have worked collaboratively to implement the State’s required pandemic response. The County is very proud of and thankful for the hard work and dedication shown by the County Superintendent of School’s Office and all of the district leaders, school administrators, teachers, faculty, and support staff throughout the county.

The California Department of Public Health is responsible for the current masking requirements. Neither the County nor our local school districts have the legal discretion to disregard these mandates.

The County looks forward to its continued partnership and collaboration with school districts as we provide for the health and safety of our residents.

This is a very important service and it is well done. Thank you for providing the details on operations and programs I would probably not hear about. I never thought I would be interested in reading a County blog but I now do so each week. The writers and visual effects staff are doing an excellent job.

Please direct me to the authority (codes in the CA Constitution) the public health office has over schools and their policies and for that matter over the medical decisions that I or my family decide on.
I appreciate hearing from you regarding my request. If I do not receive a response regarding my question I will take it they have no legal authority. Also if the state dept of health gets to dictate everything and no one else has the power to change the policy then why has different counties institutes different masking policies throughout the last two years? Again if the end all be all rests with the state dept of health why should we pay tax dollars for you the county health dept. to exist. Your statement, ” The California Department of Public Health is responsible for the current masking requirements. Neither the County nor our local school districts have the legal discretion to disregard these mandates.” is irrational since each county decided on their own the policies they would abide by and force others to live by. Several school districts to our north have already said they will not require masking of their students. So keep up the propaganda of fear that our schools are the only place to catch Covid and it is a super spreader event when we saw all the hypocrites from Hollywood and our political elite partying it up with 70,000 other people and no so I’ll distancing and no masks!! You are destroying the public’s confidence in science, medicine, and public governance.
