Family fun at Museum History Day
“Come experience work and play like Californians did in the 1800s,” said Museum Educator Carla Rosenkild. “Visitors of all ages will be able to beat a rug, clean clothes with a tub and washboard, and practice their skills with a needle and thread. Visitors can also play old-time games, dip a candle, and get busy with in the tool shed.”
Many of the planned activities are similar to those that visiting school groups enjoy in the museum’s popular special program, “1880s at Work and Play,” although the emphasis of History Day will be on activities that can be enjoyed by children and families rather than as larger groups.
“No batteries, no electronics, and no special knowledge required,” said Rosenkild. “History Day fun is based on century-old technology and lots of imagination.”
