Children’s System of Care Administration

The administrative and management unit of the Children and Youth Collaborative Services (CYCS) oversees the Children’s System of Care (CSOC). CSOC is implemented throughout San Bernardino County through contracted agencies. Programs focus on different age groups (e.g., 0-5 programs), different needs (e.g., entry level or intensive programs), and different settings (e.g., school-based, home-based, clinic-based, or residential). Clinical members of CYCS who provide direct services in either the Juvenile Court Behavioral Health Services (JCBHS) program or the Centralized Children’s Intensive Case Management Services (CCICMS) program also participate in the coordination of children’s services provided by contracted programs.

Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths

The Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths – San Bernardino (CANS-SB) is a clinical tool utilized throughout DBH programs. It is designed to improve communication among those involved in planning care for a child or adolescent and allow for outcome measurements.

DHCS Requirement to Use PSC-35

The PSC-35 is a psycho social screening tool designed to facilitate the recognition of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral problems so appropriate interventions can be initiated as early as possible. Parents/caregivers will complete PSC-35 (parent/caregiver version) for children and youth ages 3 to 18.  Language translations of the PSC-35 created for DHCS can be found at the Massachusetts General website.  Use only the translated documents marked with an asterisk (*) indicating the translation was created for DHCS.
