Animal Laws & Welfare
Animal Care and Control enforces State laws and County codes in our Service Area. State laws apply throughout California, but local ordinances may vary. View San Bernardino County’s Animal Control laws and ordinances.
Generally, for residential areas in the unincorporated parts of the County you are
allowed to have two (2) cats and/or two (2) dogs. However, this will depend on your property’s zoning. For more information you need to contact your local code enforcement agency (Land Use Services).
- City of Highland residents are allowed four (4) cats or dogs total
- City of Yucaipa residents are allowed four (4) cats or dogs total
