VICTIM(S):    Confidential – 4-year-old male and 7-year-old female

SUMMARY:

On November 27, 2018 at approximately 12:16 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to St. Mary’s Medical Center after a patient told staff she smothered her 4-year-old child with a pillow. Deputies learned Mcnay was transported to the hospital by family members, who told hospital staff they were concerned about Mcnay’s mental well-being as she had attempted to kill her children.

During the investigation, Apple Valley Detectives served a search warrant at Mcnay’s residence and located evidence to corroborate the crime. Detectives determined Mcnay attempted to harm the 7-year-old in the past, but that crime was not reported.

The children were removed from the residence by Children and Family Services and transported Loma Linda Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. The children did not require hospitalization.

Patrice Mcnay was arrested for attempted murder and is in custody at West Valley Detention Center with bail set at $1,000,000. She is scheduled for arraignment on November 29, 2018 in Victorville Superior Court.
