INCIDENT: Threat of School Violence
LOCATION: San Bernardino County Schools
Over the past couple of days, deputies throughout San Bernardino County have responded to local school districts regarding an e-mail threat of violence.Investigators have immediately responded and began working closely with members of the school districts, who have been very cooperative. Deputies are working with federal law enforcement agencies regarding these incidents.
Throughout the country, there have been a rash of e-mail threats that we have determined to be a hoax.At this time, it appears there is no viable threat of violence at any school in the county, based off of the received email.
The following school districts have received an e-mail threat: Colton Joint Unified, Fontana Unified, Helendale, Lucerne Valley Unified, Needles Unified, Redlands Unified, Rim of the World, and Yucaipa-Claimesa Joint Unified.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and all local and state law enforcement officers investigate every threat thoroughly and never take these incidents lightly. The safety of our children and school staff is our top priority.
Anyone with more information related to threats of violence is urged to contact your local law enforcement agency. Callers wishing to remain anonymous are urged to call the We-tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463), or you may leave information on the We-Tip Hotline at www.wetip.com.
