INCIDENT: Drive Under the Influence

LOCATION: 6000 Block of Morongo Road, 29 Palms.

SUSPECT: Phillip Valenzuela, 42 year old, resident of 29 Palms.

On Sunday, February 03, 2019 at approximately 9:07 pm, deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station responded to the 6000 block of Morongo Road in the City of 29 Palms regarding multiple reports of a vehicle that had just crashed into a residence. During the investigation, it was discovered a 2010 Chevy Silverado 2500HD truck was traveling westbound on Sun Valley Drive when it crashed into the residence located on the west side of Morongo Road. The pick-up truck drove completely through the residence and into the backyard of the neighboring home on Mariposa Avenue. The driver, later identified as Phillip Valenzuela was detained by deputies when he attempted to flee the scene on foot. The residence was found to be unoccupied.

Valenzuela was transported by ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment of his injuries sustained from the collision. Valenzuela was arrested and later cite released for Driving Under the Influence. Southern California Edison and SoCal Gas Company responded to disconnect utility services to the property.
