INCIDENT: Willful Cruelty to a Child

LOCATION: City of Morongo

VICTIM: 3-year-old female

SUSPECT: Yaniece Marbury , 23-years-old, resident of Yucca Valley


On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, the victim was taken to a local hospital by a family member after discovering her in an altered state of consciousness. The victim was examined by medical personnel and tested positive for THC in her system. She became unresponsive and was transported via ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC). The San Bernardino County Children and Family Services (CFS) aided in the investigation along with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Morongo Station. The victim remained hospitalized at LLUMC Pediatric ICU and was later discharged to a family member.

Investigators determined the victim resided in Yucca Valley with Yaniece Murbury. Following an extensive investigation, Murbury was arrested on August 23, 2018. Murbury was booked at Central Detention Center for Willful Cruelty to a Child and bail was set for $100,000.00. On Friday, August 24, 2018, Murbury was released on her own recognizance pending a future court date.
