On Monday, December 24, 2018 at approximately 6:37 p.m., Deputy Boord from the Morongo Basin Station was on-duty driving a marked sheriff’s patrol vehicle. He was traveling eastbound on Twentynine Palms Hwy approaching the intersection at Encelia Avenue.  Devry Johnson was westbound in the center turn lane preparing to turn left into the shopping center. Boord saw Johnson turning left and veered to the right attempting to avoid the collision and was struck by Johnson’s vehicle on the driver’s side of his patrol vehicle. Jennifer Levesque had just turned eastbound onto Twentynine Palms Hwy from the shopping center and was accelerating. After Boord’s vehicle was struck, it continued forward and rear-ended Levesque’s vehicle. Levesque’s vehicle traveled across the westbound lanes and stopped on the dirt embankment.

Involved parties were transported to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries as a precaution and released.
