INCIDENT: PC 273A(A)- Child Endangerment/ No Bail Parole Violation
LOCATION: 1100 block of W Broadway St., Needles
SUSPECT(S): Ashley Ornelas, 30-year-old resident of Needles
Pete Jewell, 36-year-old resident of Needles
VICTIM(S): 4-year-old child
SUMMARY: On September 28, 2018, Deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department were dispatched to the 1100 block of W Broadway St., in Needles, reference a found child. The reporting party found a 4 year old child walking around in the area of W Broadway and H St. with no supervision or parents. Deputies recognized the child from a residence at the 200 Block of H St. Deputies went to the residence and found the mother, Ashley Ornelas, sleeping. Pete Jewell was also found sleeping in the home with Ornelas. Jewell had a no bail warrant and is on Parole for Robbery. Heroin and a glass pipe, commonly used for smoking methamphetamine, was found inside of the residence where children had access to it. Children and Family Services was notified and released the child to the father. Ornelas was booked into the Needles Jail where she is being held pending a court hearing with a $100,000 bond. Jewell was booked into the Needles Jail and held for a no bail warrant.
