DATE/TIME OF RELEASE: December 2, 2016 – 10:00 a.m.

INCIDENT: Unlawfully Causing Fire / Willful Cruelty to a Child

SUSPECT: Eduardo Munoz, 37 years old, resident of Adelanto


On Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at approximately 6:31 p.m. deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, assigned to the city of Adelanto, were dispatched to a report of a fire at a residence.

The owner of the residence returned home to find the house full of smoke. Deputy Lauren Abernathy responded to the location and found all residents had been evacuated. Deputy Abernathy found the suspect, Eduardo Munoz, inside the residence and learned he had started fires in the residence while the occupants were at home.

Deputy Abernathy’s investigation found burn marks throughout the residence and damage to appliances and furniture. There is a current restraining order in place, prohibiting the suspect from being at the residence.

Eduard Munoz was arrested and transported to High Desert Detention Center for housing where he is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. On December 1, 2016 the Victorville District Attorney’s Office filed charges of cruelty to a child, setting a fire, vandalism and being under the influence of a controlled substance against Munoz.
