INCIDENT: VC 2800.2 Felony Evading/ PC 496 D(A) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

LOCATION: Palm Avenue and 3rd Street, Highland

SUSPECT(S): Andrew Carrillo, 22 years old, Redlands resident

Anthony Escudero, 21 years old, San Bernardino resident


On December 22, 2016 at approximately 7:57 a.m., Deputy C. Veit, from the Sheriff’s Central Station, Loma Linda Police, was assisting Highland Sheriff’s Station with and area check for a stolen vehicle in the area Sterling Avenue and Baseline Street. The vehicle was observed heading south towards Loma Linda and Redlands and Loma Linda units began moving north to conduct an area check for the vehicle. Deputy Veit located the vehicle traveling south on Palm Avenue, south of 3rd Street. Veit attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed towards Redlands. The vehicle turned east on Pioneer Avenue and crashed into a guard rail adjacent to the 210 freeway. The driver and passenger both fled from the vehicle but were later captured by a multiagency effort. The vehicle was reported stolen out of the city of Loma Linda. The driver and the passenger were identified as Andrew Carrillo (Driver) and Anthony Escudero (Passenger). Carrillo and Escudero were arrested and booked into Central Detention Center for VC 2800.2 Felony Evading and PC 496D(A) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.
