INCIDENT: Felony Evading/Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm/Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public/Carrying a Concealed Firearm


LOCATION: N. Lugo Ave. /Bryant St. in the City of San Bernardino


SUSPECT(S): Larry Franklin, 55 year old resident of San Bernardino


VICTIM(S): The State of California


On July 3, 2016, at approximately 4:00 pm, Deputy G. Nicassio, from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Central Station, attempted to stop Larry Franklin for a vehicle code violation. Franklin failed to yield to the emergency lights and siren, driving without due regard for public safety. Franklin drove recklessly through the streets of San Bernardino, running stop signs and almost crashing into other vehicles. Franklin stopped abruptly and ran from his vehicle, leaving it in drive, causing it to roll unattended into an occupied Rudy Hernandez Community Park. Franklin then ran into the park attempting to flee from deputies and threw a stole gun onto the roof of the Community Center. Franklin was taken into custody without further incident and the stolen gun was recovered. No one at the park was injured. Franklin was booked into Central Detention Center for Felony Evading, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public and Previously Convicted Felon in Possession of a Loaded Firearm.
