INCIDENT: Felon Resisting Arrest/PRCS Probation Violation
LOCATION: 48th Street and Electric Avenue, San Bernardino
SUSPECT: Anthony Medina, 25, San Bernardino Resident
Summary
On Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at approximately 12:30 p.m. deputies were in the area of 48th Street and Electric Avenue. They attempted to conduct a pedestrian check on a Hispanic male, who was carrying a black bag and acting suspiciously. The subject fled from deputies on foot throughout the neighborhood. Deputies and the Sheriff’s Aviation Division set up a perimeter to locate the subject. He was ultimately captured after resisting arrest and found to be on PRCS probation. The bag he was carrying was located and contained two laptops. The laptops are held for further investigation. The subject was identified as Anthony Medina, 25, of San Bernardino. Medina was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for resisting arrest and probation violation.
As part of Governor Jerry Brown’s Realignment Plan, or Assembly Bill 109, to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court Decision requiring the state to lower its prison population; offenders with non-violent, non-sexual and non-serious convictions will serve reduced sentences in county jails and be placed on local supervision through county Probation.
