Summary
On Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. deputies from the Chino Hills Station received information from Lowes employees that a customer was acting suspicious. Employees stated a customer was loading a large amount of tools into a shopping cart and they suspected he was going to run out of the store without paying. Deputies arrived as the suspect pushed the shopping cart out an emergency exit and began to load the tools into a U-Haul truck occupied by a second suspect, later identified as Samuel Felipe. Felipe was taken into custody without incident. The first suspect ran from the scene and was not located during an extensive search with the assistance of a helicopter and Police K9. Investigators with the Chino Hills Station were able to positively identify him as Nicholas Perez. The investigation is on going.
Deputies recovered over $1,200.00 of merchandise Perez attempted to steal from the Chino Hills Lowes. In addition, deputies also recovered over $600.00 in merchandise stolen earlier that morning from a Lowes store in Los Angeles County.
Anyone with information regarding other crimes these suspects were involved in, or the whereabouts of Nicolas Perez, should contact the Chino Hills Police Department or WeTip at 800 78-CRIME.
