Incident: Computer Crimes, Penal Codes 502(c)(6) and 502(c)(8)

Location: Ruben S. Ayala High School, 14255 Peyton Drive, Chino Hills

Suspect(s): Two 16-year-old males – Ruben S. Ayala High School students


On Monday, September 5, 2016, school administrators reported several teacher websites were hacked. School Resource Officer Thompson conducted an investigation which led to the identification of two Ruben S. Ayala High School students being involved in the hacking of the school’s computer network. The investigation revealed the students modified grades by using stolen login credentials of faculty and conducted other data theft.

Once the breach was discovered, school officials took immediate steps to assess the situation and are working to safeguard their networks from any future attacks.

The completed investigation will be forwarded to the District Attorney – Juvenile Division for review.
