During the early morning hours on Friday, February 26, 2016, an alert resident called deputies because they saw two subjects carrying backpacks in the area of Shady View Dr and Mystic Canyon Dr. at 3:30 a.m. When the subjects saw the caller they jumped into bushes and attempted to hide. Deputies responded and noticed a vehicle driving away with the rear passengers crouched down in the back seat. Deputies detained all the subjects and learned the rear passengers, Samantha Goode and Theodore Sanchez, used UBER to drop them off and pick them up. Through investigation it was determined both passengers were in Chino Hills attempting to steal mail and the Uber driver was not involved. Thankfully, an alert resident saw them and immediately called 911.
