INCIDENT: PC 290 – Failure to Register as a Sex Offender

LOCATION:San Bernardino High School
1850 North “E” Street; City of San Bernardino

On December 7, 2015, San Bernardino City School Police Officers contacted Bishop as he was walking around the San Bernardino High School, and found he had an active Felony warrant for his arrest, for PC 286 – Sodomy of a child. Bishop was arrested at that time and booked into County Jail.
On February 26, 2016, Jordan Bishop appeared in San Bernardino Superior Court and entered a guilty plea to a Felony charge of PC 286 – Sodomy of a child. As a result of his conviction, he was placed on Formal Felony Probation and given credit for time served and was ordered released from custody. He was also ordered to register as a Sex Offender for the rest of his life.
Bishop was released from custody and checked in with probation officers from the San Bernardino County probation department, where he was issued a GPS ankle bracelet and was being monitored by probation officers.
On March 3, 2016, Bishop went to the San Bernardino Police Department and registered as being a “transient” within the City of San Bernardino.
During the course of their supervision, probation officers determined that Bishop was actually living at a residence in the 1500 Block of North D Street.
On the morning of March 10, 2016, Probation Officers contacted Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Crimes Against Children Detail to assist them with an investigation into the PC 290 violation of Bishop failing to register his residence.
Shortly after, as they began their investigation, Probation Officers were contacted by Officers from the San Bernardino City School Police Department, advising they had Bishop detained. An alert citizen observed Bishop lurking around in the alley way across from San Bernardino High School; staring at the students at the school, just prior to school being dismissed for the day. The citizen alerted the School Police Department. School Police Officers responded and located Bishop and detained him.
Probation Officers, and Detectives from the Crimes Against Children Detail responded, and conducted further investigation. Officers and Detectives responded back to his residence in the 1500 Block of North “D” Street, and located evidence to establish Bishop living at that residence.

Bishop was arrested for violating the terms of his probation, and for failing to register as a Sex Offender. He was transported and booked into the Central Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of No Bail.
Due to the tip of an alert citizen, the diligent efforts of his probation officer and officers from the San Bernardino City School Police, a Sexual predator was arrested before any more children could be victimized.
Detectives are releasing Bishop’s booking photo, in case any children were contacted by Bishop prior to law enforcement arresting him.
