INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon

LOCATION: Alder Ave, Fontana

SUSPECT(S): Alma Briseno, 36 years of age, resident of unincorporated area of Fontana

VICTIM(S): Confidential


On Sunday, November 13, 2016, at approximately 8:30 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence in Fontana following the report of a domestic disturbance. The victim reported his estranged wife (Alma Briseno) broke “everything” and was armed with an unknown weapon. The victim stated suspect Briseno arrived at her residence with their 11-year-old son. The victim observed Briseno was angry and he would not open the door.
Briseno began vandalizing the victim’s vehicle by scratching the paint and puncturing three tires. Briseno also broke a front window and had their son climb through to unlock the front door. Before the child could open the front door, the victim grabbed his son and locked themselves in a bedroom. Briseno climbed through the broken window and grabbed a large 10” kitchen knife.
Briseno stabbed the bedroom door several times, creating a hole. She then reached through the hole and unlocked the door. The victim ran out of the bedroom and went outside. Briseno followed him, while armed with the knife in her right hand. The victim attempted to take the knife to prevent from being injured. Deputies arrived and found the Brisenos struggling over the knife. The Brisenos were ordered to drop the knife, which they did immediately. Both were detained without incident. Alma Briseno was booked at the West Valley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon.
