INCIDENT: SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER 50 MINUTE PURSUIT AND DRIVING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROADWAY
LOCATION:HESPERIA TO LANDERS
SUSPECT(S): MICHAEL MILLER, AGE 33 OF VICTORVILLE
Summary
On Thursday, January 28, 2016, at approximately 11:39 p.m., a traffic stop was initiated by a Hesperia Sheriff’s Deputy in the area of Eucalyptus St. and I Ave., Hesperia. The driver failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit.
The suspect fled up Bear Valley Rd. to Hwy 18 and eventually to Hwy 247 to Landers.During the pursuit the suspect vehicle reached speeds of 120 mph and traveled on the wrong side of the road endangering others in the area.
Sheriff’s Helicopter 40k and units from other Sheriff’s Stations assisted deputies with the pursuit.Deputies deployed spike strips twice, but the suspect continued on until a deputy was able to use a PIT maneuver and bring the pursuit to an end.A felony stop was conducted, the driver and passenger complied with deputy’s commands and exited the vehicle without further incident.
Suspect Michael Miller was arrested and booked on charges of VC2800.2(a)- Felony evading with disregard to public safety and VC2800.4- Felony evading and driving on the wrong side of the roadway.
