INCIDENT:Felony Evading/Stolen Vehicle

LOCATION:Baseline Avenue & 210 Freeway, Highland Ca. 92346

SUSPECT(S): Shawn Rash, age 43 a transient of Moreno Valley

Summary

On Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at approximately 11:37 a.m., deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to the area of Baseline & the 210 Freeway regarding a stolen vehicle reported in the area. The vehicle was located at a business. As deputies were arriving at the location, the suspect drove away. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspect failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued into the City of Redlands. During the pursuit the suspect drove into oncoming traffic, threw narcotics out of the window and appeared to point something at the deputies. A P.I.T maneuver was initiated and successfully brought the pursuit to an end. The suspect ran from the vehicle but was detained without incident a short distance later. The suspect, Shawn Rash, was taken into custody and booked at the Central Detention Center. While at the jail, Rash was found to be in possession of an ounce of methamphetamine which he had hidden in his body.
