17 year old female juvenile, resident of Highland

Summary

On Wednesday morning at about 1:00 a.m., a victim on Santa Paula reported her husband confronted two juveniles that he caught breaking into his garage. One of the juveniles fled on foot with a scooter taken from the victim’s garage. The other male fled with a female in a vehicle (a black 4 door Kia Rio with paper plates later determined to be stolen) that was parked nearby on Mission. When deputies arrived on scene, one deputy chased the vehicle, while the other deputies chased the suspect with the scooter.

The suspects in the vehicle led deputies on a high speed pursuit through the streets of East Highland. When the driver of the stolen car came to the intersection of Baseline and Weaver he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the fence at the south west corner. The male driver fled on foot and was captured a short distance away. The female ran into the Immanuel Baptist complex and was found hiding on a second story walkway near an elevator. When deputies searched the vehicle they found numerous items of brand new clothing and shoes that appeared to have recently been stolen from Target, Burlington Coat Factory, and Vans.

The third suspect was located hiding in the neighborhood off Greenspot and Santa Paula after jumping through several yards. The scooter was also recovered. All three were taken into custody.

While the male suspects were being interviewed, information developed that one of them was involved in a brutal home invasion robbery of an elderly man in Loma Linda a few days prior. Loma Linda detectives were summoned and continued their investigation, eventually arresting the teen from Highland for that case.
