Summary

On Sunday, January 10th, at approximately 7:55 p.m., while on routine patrol, Deputy Shannon Deasey noticed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed northbound on Victoria Avenue near Sparks Street. Deputy Deasey attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle, a blue Honda, sped away from the marked patrol car.

The driver, later identified as Nauma Castaneda, failed to yield to the emergency lights and sirens. Castaneda did not obey traffic signals and sped through residential neighborhoods at high speeds. Nauma Castaneda eventually stopped and surrendered. He was taken into custody without incident. Castaneda’s four children, all aged 7 and younger, were located unharmed in the backseat of the vehicle. Castaneda was arrested for evading a peace officer and child endangerment. He was also found to have been driving on a suspended drivers license. He was booked into the Central Detention Center. Refer: Deputy. S.
