Summary
On Monday, January4, 2016, a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Bryn Mawr Avenue and George Street in the city of Loma Linda.
At about 12:05 p.m., Party#1 (a Loma Linda resident) was driving his gold 2000 Toyota Avalon south bound on Bryn Mawr Avenue preparing to make a left turn and proceed east bound on George Street. Party#2 (also a Loma Linda resident) was riding his bicycle northbound on Bryn Mawr Avenue approaching George Street. Party#1 turned left in front of Party#2 who was unableto stop or swerve out of the way.The collision caused major injuries to Party#2 and significant damageto his bicycle.
Paramedics from the Loma Linda Fire Department responded to the scene.Party#2 was subsequently transported to the Loma Linda University Medical Center Emergency Room where he succumbed to his injuries. Party#1 was examined at the scene, released and later driven home.
Members of the Sheriff’s Department Regional Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating the collision. At this time, it is not believed alcohol or speed were contributing factors. At the conclusion of the investigation, a case will be submitted to theDistrict Attorney’s Office for review.
