INCIDENT: Possession of Stolen Property

SUSPECT(S): Royce Martinez-Chavira, 48, of Lucerne Valley
                       Tammy Conway, 52, of Lucerne Valley


On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, an explosion and fire near the dry lake bed in Lucerne Valley was reported to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dispatch.

Deputies from the Lucerne Valley Sheriff’s Sub-Station were dispatched to the area to attempt to locate the fire. Deputies Kevin Kraft, Thomas Gates and Robert Oakleaf, along with Detective William Doemner responded and were able to locate the fire in the 29900 block of Sherwood.

While investigating the cause of the fire deputies located a stolen vehicle and a stolen towable air compressor. It was determined the fire was started accidentally when one of the suspects was using matches near a gas can.

Royce Martinez-Chavira and Tammy Conway were both arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center on charges of possession of stolen property. They are currently being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
