INCIDENT:Criminal Threats, Felony Assault / SWAT incident

LOCATION:49000 block of Buena Vista Drive, Morongo Valley

SUSPECT: Luke Aaron Schrader, 33 years old, resident of Morongo Valley

VICTIM: John Scott Schrader


On Monday, November 28, 2016 at about 7:45 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to a residence at the 49000 block of Buena Vista Drive in Morongo Valley for a report of a subject brandishing a gun. John Schrader called 9-1-1 and reported his son, Luke Schrader, was heavily intoxicated, had assaulted him causing a severe injury to his face, pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him. Luke Schrader was armed with multiple firearms and refused to exit the residence. Deputies secured a search warrant for the residence and an arrest warrant for Luke Schrader.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SWAT) arrived to assist in the apprehension of Luke Schrader. The SWAT team deployed chemical agents inside the residence, and Luke Schrader subsequently exited the residence and surrendered.
Luke Schrader was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for suspicion of criminal threats, felony assault, and brandishing a weapon. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
