INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision/ MAIT Investigation

LOCATION: Needles Hwy. / National Trails Hwy., Needles

DRIVER:Jamie Lee Ritter, 36 years old

VEHICLE: 1996 Tan Ford F250


On Sunday, April 10, 2016, at approximately 8:22 p.m., Deputies from the Colorado River Sheriff Station were dispatched to a single vehicle roll-over collision, involving a pick-up truck, on Needles Highway near National Trails Highway. Upon arrival Deputies discovered a 1996 Tan Ford F250 Truck on the east side of Needles Highway, lying on its side, and north of the intersection of National Trails Highway. The driver of the Ford F250 sustained traumatic internal injuries and was treated on scene by San Bernardino County Fire Department, then transported by ground to Colorado River Medical Center by Baker Ambulance.
Preliminary investigation revealed Ritter was northbound Needles Highway at a high rate of speed, drifted off the roadway, and then struck a concrete wall at the entrance to 3408 Needles Highway. Ritter was pronounced deceased from his injuries while being treated at Colorado River Medical Center.
Needles Highway was closed in both directions for several hours.
