Incident: Near Drowning

Location:  Rio Buena Vista Community, 1100 Marina Drive, Needles, CA 92363

Victim(s): Three-year-old child

Summary

On 04/03/16, at approximately 2:51 pm, California Highway Patrol dispatch received an emergency callof a child drowning at the community swimming poolof the Rio Buena Vista housing complex.A three-year-old child was found in the spa unresponsive. The child had been underwater for an unknown amount of time, when emergency personnel arrived on scene several adults were performing CPR on the child at the scene.The child was rushed by ambulance to the Colorado River Medical Center but was then air lifted to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada for further medical treatment.At the time of the incident, the Needles Police Station was not notified of the call for service and did not respond to the scene.

                                          

On 04/04/16, at approximately 11:49 am, the Needles Police Department was advised by medical staff at the Sunrise Hospital regarding the child’s condition.
