SUSPECT(S): Richard Lee Hoefferle, age 30, of Phelan

Summary

On Tuesday, January 19, 2016, Deputy Lance Williams from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a green Dodge Dakota pickup for a headlight violation.
 
The driver of the vehicle pulled into a gas station on the corner of Baldy Mesa Road and Phelan Road, drove quickly through the parking lot and back into traffic in an attempt to evade Deputy Williams. Deputy Williams followed the vehicle as the driver continued to attempt to evade. The vehicle traveled several miles before the driver stopped the vehicle, exited and began to flee on foot. With the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation, the suspect, Richard Lee Hoefferle, was located a short distance away hiding in a bush.
 
Hoefferle was arrested on charges of evading a peace officer and driving on a suspended license. He was booked at High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
