INCIDENT:Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Firefighter LOCATION:9th street/ Hellman Avenue Rancho Cucamonga SUSPECT(S): Gregorio Gonzalez 34-year-old male transient VICTIM:Rancho Cucamonga Fire District Investigator 

Summary

On March 17, 2016, at about 6:50 a.m., Rancho Cucamonga Fire District Investigators were attempting to determine the origin of a residential structure fire near Hellman Avenue and 9th Street. Fire investigators observed Gregorio Gonzalez walking near the structure and attempted to question him. Gonzalez was extremely confrontational and uncooperative, and fire investigators radioed deputies for assistance. Hearing the radio call; Gonzalez displayed a knife and threatened to injure them. Fire investigators immediately backed away from Gonzalez and updated deputies on the situation.

As fire investigators created separation between them and Gonzalez, Gonzalez threw the knife at them and ran south from the location. Responding deputies located Gonzalez a short distance from the scene and apprehended him without incident. Gonzalez was booked at the West Valley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon on a firefighter, and his bail was set at $50,000.
