Summary

On December 4, 2016, at approximately 4:20 pm, deputies responded to the report of a strong-arm robbery that occurred near the Lewis Playhouse Theater. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect, Dominic Dominguez, approach the victim and forcibly take her purse from her. Dominguez entered a vehicle with two other occupants and left the area. The witnesses provided an excellent description of the vehicle and followed the suspects while continually updating dispatch of the suspect’s whereabouts.

Deputies located the suspects’ vehicle near the intersection of Church Street and Etiwanda Avenue. A felony traffic stop was conducted and Dominguez, Richard Carranza and Hugo Avila were detained. Deputies located a loaded handgun under the front passenger seat during a search of the vehicle. The investigation revealed the victim just finished watching the Nutcracker play at the Lewis Playhouse Theater, and while walking to her vehicle with a friend, was attacked from behind by Dominguez. Dominguez was able to violently remove the victim’s purse from her grasp and quickly run to the awaiting vehicle.

Due to the witness’ excellent reporting and the deputies quick action, the victim’s purse and all its contents were recovered. The victim praised the witnesses desire to help her when she needed it the most. Dominguez, Carranza and Avila were all arrested for robbery and booked into the West Valley Detention Center. Their bail for all three was set at $100,000.
