Press Release

DATE/TIME: February 2, 2016

INCIDENT:   Possession of Child Pornography

LOCATION: 7000 block of Cameo Street, Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT:   Fred Salazar II, 34-year-old male from Rancho Cucamonga

Summary

On March 15, 2015, Twitter, Inc. became aware of an image of child pornography uploaded by one of their customers and filed a Cyber Tipline Report with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Federal law mandates Twitter and other social media applications to report any posting of child pornography to the Cyber Tip Line.

After Twitter’s initial report, Detective Jason Frey from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department received the information and authored multiple search warrants for Fred Salazar’s electronic service devices. Detective Frey seized Salazar’s electronic devices for investigation. After a forensic examination of Salazar’s electronic devices, a warrant for possession of child pornography was issued.

On Tuesday, February 2, 2016, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department served the arrest warrant and took Salazar into custody. Salazar was booked at the West Valley Detention Center, and his bail was set at $50,000. Salazar posted bail and was released from custody Tuesday night.

Investigators are concerned there may be additional victims because Salazar manages a local laundromat and lives near an elementary school. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident or anyone with suspicious contacts with Salazar is urged to contact the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department at (909) 477-2800.
