INCIDENT: Battery with Serious Bodily Injury and Discharging a Firearm LOCATION: Snow Valley Mountain Resort, Running Springs SUSPECT(S): Anthony Magana, age 37; Jennifer Magana, age 31 both of Running Springs
Summary
SUMMARY: On Saturday, January 9, 2016, at about 2:44 p.m., the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Twin Peaks Station received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at the Snow Valley Mountain Resort, near Running Springs. Deputies from the Twin Peaks and Big Bear Stations responded along with officers from the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino National Forest Law Enforcement Division. The response was treated as a possible active shooter until additional information was received once law enforcement arrived. Anthony Magana and his wife, Jennifer Magana, went to the Snow Valley Mountain Resort to ski and play in the snow. Anthony became involved in a physical altercation with four subjects, in the parking lot, after an argument. Jennifer retrieved a firearm from her vehicle and fired four bullets into the air to stop the fight. Anthony was determined to be the aggressor in the argument and fight. Anthony was arrested for PC 243(d), Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, and booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Central Detention Center. Anthony was released from custody after posting $100,000.00 bail. Jennifer was arrested for discharging a firearm and released at the scene.
