Press Release

DATE/TIME:NOVEMBER 14, 2016 / 5:41 PM

On November 14, 2016 at approximately 5:41 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station, rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and AMR responded to a reported vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision located on Amargosa Road, north of the intersection with Midtown Drive. Deputies arrived on scene to find a blue GMC Safari in the southbound lanes of Amargosa Road with front end damage. Lying on the roadway in front of the GMC was an adult male with major head trauma. The adult male was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel. The driver of the GMC remained on scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Region II Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. MAIT investigators determined the GMC was driving south on Amargosa Road when the adult male pedestrian was walking in the roadway. The front of the GMC impacted the pedestrian and carried him for a short distance before disengaging and coming to a stop on the roadway. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

North and southbound lanes of Amargosa Road were closed, between Midtown Drive and Dakota Street until about 1:00 a.m. while MAIT investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Anyone with information about the collision can contact Deputies Brian LoVasco or Michael Cashion at the Hesperia and Apple Valley Stations or the WeTip hotline.
