SUSPECT(S): Lakiba Marie Cox, 28 year old Hesperia resident
VICTIM(S): 3 year old male
On February 26, 2016, the Victorville Police Department responded to a reported kidnapping. When Deputy Ty Chamberlain arrived at the location, the father of a 3 year old boy stated his son had been taken from his home by Lakiba Cox on February 25, 2016.
Cox, who is a friend of the victim’s parents, showed up at the home when the father was away and told the victim’s caregiver that she was taking the victim to the store and would return soon. After failed attempts to have the suspect return the victim, the parents contacted the police.
Deputies located the suspect and victim at a residence in Hesperia early the following morning. The victim appeared to be unharmed and was returned to his father. The suspect was taken into custody and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for kidnapping.
