INCIDENT: Assault with a Deadly Weapon

SUSPECT(S): Julio Romero – 40 years old – Yucaipa resident

Summary
On July 4, 2016 at about 11:21 p.m., deputies from the Yucaipa Police Department received a report of a stabbing that occurred on Yucaipa Boulevard near 1st Street.Deputies responded to the location and found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the upper left side of his chest.The victim told deputies he was walking on the boulevard when he happened to come across his uncle, Julio Romero.The victim confronted Romero about an ongoing family dispute and it escalated into a physical fight.During the fight, Romero stabbed the victim with a knife and fled scene.The victim was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center while the investigation continued.
On July 5th around 10:30 a.m., Deputy Loftis saw Romero walking on Yucaipa Boulevard near Yucaipa Valley Circle.Loftis arrested Romero without incident.Romero was booked into the Central Detention Center for Penal Code Section 245 Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
