INCIDENT: Carjacking LOCATION: 3RD Street/Bella Vista Drive, Yucaipa SUSPECT: Jose Manuel Mendieta, 36, of San Bernardino 

Summary

On Sunday, October 18, 2015 at approximately 4:30 a.m, the victim was working as a security guard at a new home development. While closing the gate, he was approached by an unknown suspect holding a hand gun and ordered to the ground. The suspect took the victim’s wallet, cell phone, and vehicle. Deputies recovered the victim’s vehicle later that day and subsequently processed the vehicle for DNA. The results were sent to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Crime Lab for processing. Recently, a DNA profile was obtained that identified Jose Mendieta as a possible suspect. Yucaipa detectives’s authored a search warrant for a new reference sample for Mendieta’s DNA and it was positively matched to the vehicle.
