INCIDENT: PC 496 – Possession of Stolen Vehicle and Receiving Stolen Property

LOCATION: 37500 Block of County Line Road, Yucaipa

SUSPECT(S): Brian Arndt, 24 years old, San Bernardino
Michelle Zacarias, 18 years old, Yucaipa

On June 30, 2016 at 5:00 a.m. a citizen called the Yucaipa Police Department after he saw a subject opening and going through a mailbox in the area of County Line Road and Morningside Drive. The citizen confronted the subject, later identified as Brian Arndt, who ran from the scene. As the citizen chased Arndt, he saw a suspicious looking white Toyota Corolla, occupied by a female, parked nearby. The female fled the location on foot after the witness confronted her.

Deputies located Arndt who was in possession of suspected stolen property. The white Toyota Corolla was found to be an unreported stolen vehicle. Deputies identified the female as Michelle Zacarias. Deputies found evidence implicating her and Arndt in the theft of the stolen Corolla and also to several thefts from vehicles in the area. Brian Arndt and Michelle Zacarias were arrested and booked into the Central Detention Center.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the Yucaipa Police Department want to reduce incidents of theft from vehicles by reminding citizens not to leave valuables in their cars and to make sure their car doors are locked.
