INCIDENT: THC Extraction Lab / Cultivation of Marijuana / Possession of Marijuana for Sales LOCATION: #1 – 4625 Old Woman Springs Rd., Yucca Valley #2 – 4451 Old Woman Springs Rd., Yucca Valley SUSPECT: #1) Arnold Wood Caldwell, age 52, of Yucca Valley #2, #3 & #4 Identification Pending


Investigators from the Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant at Location #1. Investigators found over 1,000 marijuana plants growing on the property and evidence to show the marijuana was being distributed for sales. Suspect #1 was present at the location when investigators served the warrant. He was not arrested at this time pending a review of criminal charges by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office that include Cultivation of Marijuana and Possession for Sales of Marijuana. Additional charges may be added at a later time. Investigators served a second search warrant at Location #2 after finding evidence linking both properties. At this location investigators found evidence to show a THC Extraction Lab was present and producing concentrated cannabis. Over 1,100 marijuana plants and over 10 pounds of processed marijuana was also found. The THC extraction process is extremely dangerous and has a high potential for explosion and fire due to the use of large amounts of flammable chemicals during the extraction process. This chemical process is illegal and is a violation of California’s Health & Safety Code. Investigators have identified suspects associated with Location #2, but are not releasing their names at this time because of the ongoing investigation. A code enforcement officer from the Town of Yucca Valley also inspected the property and found several building code violations. A case will be investigated by the Community Development Department – Code Compliance. The property owner(s) may be issued a citation for the violations and ultimately fined for the violations if they go uncorrected.At the conclusion of the investigation all suspects will be charged with the Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance, Cultivation of Marijuana and Possession for Sales of Marijuana.
