INCIDENT:Vehicle Pursuit/ Felony Evading
LOCATION:Yucca Trail/ Warren Vista, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT: Timothy Smith, 40-year-old resident of Joshua Tree
Summary
On Sunday, December 11, 2016 at approximately 1:41 a.m., deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a dirt bike, ridden by Timothy Smith, for multiple traffic violations. Smith led deputies on a vehicle pursuit for approximately 2.5 miles, reaching speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour. The pursuit traveled through residential streets and then into the desert. Smith crashed his motorcycle in a wash near La Contenta Road and Sunnyslope Drive in Yucca Valley, and was arrested. Smith was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for felony evading.
