DATE/TIME: March 13, 2017 9:32 p.m.
INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision.
LOCATION: Calimesa Boulevard & Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa
INVOLVED PARTY (1): Matthew Nickels, 31-years-old, Moreno Valley resident; Driving a black, 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
INVOLVED PARTY (2): Jacob Applegate, 28-years-old, Moreno Valley resident; Driving a black, 2005 Yamaha Star motorcycle
Summary
On Monday, March 13, 2017 at 9:32 p.m. Nickels and Applegate were riding their motorcycles west on Calimesa Boulevard Approaching Oak Glen Road. There is a curvature to the road on Calimesa Boulevard and both riders failed to negotiate the turn, crossed into the eastbound lane and ran off the roadway. Nickels and Applegate were ejected from their motorcycles and sustained major injuries. Nickels and Applegate were transported by AMR to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further medical treatment. Factors such as speed and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence have not been ruled out. The investigation is ongoing.
