SUSPECT(S): Ted Dumas, 20 year old resident of Yucca Valley

Summary

On September 28, 2017, at approximately 2:33 p.m., deputies from the Town of Yucca Valley Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle, in front of Yucca Valley High School. The motorcycle was speeding in front of the school and crossed over double yellow lines to pass a school bus. The motorcyclist failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and fled at high rate of speed, leading deputies on pursuit throughout the Morongo Basin. The pursuit lasted approximately 30 minutes covering 44 miles, and speeds in excess of 140 MPH. The pursuit ended at the intersection of Indio Ave and Buena Vista Dr in Yucca Valley.

The motorcyclist, Ted Dumas, was taken into custody. Dumas was booked at the Morongo Basin jail for felony evading and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
