LOCATION: Milliken Avenue and Victoria Park Lane

SUSPECT: Gilbert Sanchez, 50-years-old of Moreno Valley

On Thursday, July 8, 2021, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Station responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on Milliken Avenue and Victoria Park Lane in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. Witnesses reported one of the vehicles rolled over after colliding with another vehicle. The driver of the rolled-over vehicle, later identified as Gilbert Sanchez, exited his vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies conducted an area check and located Sanchez walking northbound on Milliken Avenue. While detaining Sanchez, deputies could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Sanchez’s breath.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined Sanchez was traveling at an unsafe speed northbound on Milliken Avenue, ran a red light and collided with a second vehicle causing injury to the other driver. That driver was transported to a local hospital.

Sanchez was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for felony Hit & Run and felony DUI. His bail was set at $100,000.
