INCIDENT: PC422- Threaten Crime
PC148.1- False Bomb Threat
LOCATION: 6900 block of Etiwanda Avenue
SUSPECT: 13-year-old male
On Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 5:52 p.m. deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to Etiwanda Intermediate School (EIS), for a report of a threating crime via social media. There was a screenshot of an anonymous Instagram account advising there would be a crime scene at EIS and to “Be prepared EIS will be getting blown”. Additional posts stated, “I will shoot you in the face” and “EIS will be a crime scene”. One of the messages indicated this would happen the following day but did not specify how or what time and was posted about 20-30 minutes prior to the notification to law enforcement. Several parents called in throughout the investigation and reported their concerns for their children’s safety after seeing the posts.
Through investigation deputies and detectives learned the identity of the suspect which came back to a student that attends EIS. The suspect found out about the investigation as the principal was making calls and happened to call his parents. At this point, the suspect sent out a message that stated it was just a “Halloween Joke” and apologizing. Deputies contacted the juvenile’s parents at their residence. The suspect was arrested and cite released to his parents.
Threats directed at students and staff are handled and investigated with the highest priority to ensure safety and security for all at our schools. All threats of harm to others are criminal offenses that will be referred to the District Attorney for review for prosecution.
