SUMMARY:
On October 1st, 2018, at approximately 12:38 pm, Sheriff’s Dispatch received multiple reports of a female subject who appeared to be extremely distraught. The female was seen crying near Etiwanda Falls in the Etiwanda Preserve. Deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga station and firefighters from the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department responded to the area and located the female in the water approximately 10 feet down from the top of Etiwanda Falls with injuries consistent with a fall. Due to the remote location and the nature the injuries, Sheriff’s Air Rescue 306 helicopter was requested to perform a hoist rescue.
Sheriff’s Air Rescue 306 responded to the scene and lowered rescue personnel approximately 150 feet to the base of the water fall. The female was placed into a rescue harness, hoisted up to the helicopter and flown to a nearby ambulance. She was then taken to a local area hospital for further evaluation.
Sheriff’s Air Rescue 306 is staffed by members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s and Fire Departments and work in cooperation to support the public.
