DATE/TIME OF INCIDENT: Sunday, June 22, 2018, at 3:33am


LOCATION: Area of La Mesa/ Jonathan, in Phelan

SUSPECT: Hector Rodriguez, 44 years-old, of Hesperia

VICTIM: Female Adult, 26 years-old, of Phelan
Male Adult, 36 years-old, of Adelanto

On Sunday, June 22, 2018, at 3:33 am, the female victim called 911 from the Shell Gas Station at the corner of Palmdale Road and US Highway 395 in Victorville.

When deputies arrived they found the 26 year-old female victim in her car with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and a second victim, a 36 year-old male in the vehicle with 2 gunshot wounds to his right arm. The female was airlifted and the male victim was transported by ambulance to local hospitals.

Through the investigation by Detective Robbi DeBois, it was learned the two victims were sitting in their car near La Mesa and Johnson Road in Phelan when the suspect, identified as Hector Rodriguez, drove by them and fired several rounds into their vehicle striking both the victims. The victims were able drive to the Shell Gas Station and call 911. Although Rodriguez is known to both the victims, the motive for the shooting is not known at the time of this release.

Detective DeBois located Rodriguez and his vehicle at a residence in the 4800 block of La Mesa Road in Phelan. Rodriguez was arrested without incident. Inside the Rodriguez’s vehicle, deputies located gun magazines and ammunition. The investigation is continuing. Hector Rodriguez will be booked at the High Desert Detention Center for attempt murder.
