SUMMARY:

On August 31, 2019, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to Ricky’s Bar for a suspicious person call. An employee of the bar had required 36-year old David Robert Sawyer to leave the bar and Sawyer was reportedly driving around the parking lot displaying erratic behavior.

Sawyer drove forward over a sidewalk and onto northbound Hesperia Road. Deputies followed Sawyer with flashing emergency lights and sirens activated. Sawyer failed to yield to the deputies and led them on a vehicle pursuit, which ended at Hesperia Road and Forrest Avenue when Sawyer collided with a parked pickup truck. He attempted to flee on foot from the collision but was apprehended by deputies.
