INCIDENT:                Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION:             Palmdale Road / El Evado Road

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at approximately 11:44 pm, deputies from the Victorville Police Department and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a single vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Palmdale Road and El Evado Road in the city of Victorville.

Upon arrival, deputies determined a 2003 Lexus was traveling east on Palmdale Road when the driver lost control causing the vehicle to hit a traffic signal. Upon impact, the vehicle caught fire, and the driver was found unconscious and unresponsive inside. Witnesses at the scene removed the driver from the vehicle prior to emergency personnel arriving.

The driver of the Lexus suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital and was subsequently pronounced deceased. The identity of the driver is being withheld, pending notification of family.

Investigators are continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision. A section of Palmdale Road and adjacent roads were closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
